Last night, celebrities, models, and designers made quite the presence at the 2015 Met Gala. This annual event is always held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Exhibit and is known among the fashion crowd as the most inventive and extravagant event of the year. With this year’s theme being ‘Chinese Whispers: Tales of the East in Art, Film, and Fashion,’ the anticipation over how the attendees would honor this theme through their ensembles felt higher than the Great Wall prior to the big arrivals. Of course, the guests on the red carpet did anything but disappoint and the fashion looked even more imaginative and awe-inspiring than ever!
Some common themes that I spotted on the red carpet included headpieces, capes, embellishments, risqué cutouts, and LOTS of red. For the most part, these trends added some extra “wow factor” to the amazing outfits at the event, making my choice of favorites extremely difficult! However, after long contemplation, I finally was able to pick out my top ten outfits from the Gala. Check them out below and see if you agree with my standout looks!
Kate Hudson in Michael Kors
Kendall Jenner in Calvin Klein Collection
Rihanna in Guo Pei
Reese Witherspoon in Jason Wu
Kim Kardashian West in Roberto Cavalli

Happy Sunday everyone! As I mentioned in my previous post, Storefront Spotlight, storeowner Tricia Snyder is always bringing new and unique designers into her cool boutique, Trish. Every time I visit the store and see these new brands displayed among the racks and shelves, I am immediately educated about these brands by Tricia or her employees. This is not only a smart sales move, but it also makes my shopping experience much more personal and memorable. Plus, when leaving with a bag full of merchandise, knowing about the designers behind my purchases makes them feel that much more special.
This morning, I thought that I’d share with you some of my favorite lesser-known brands that Trish first introduced me to: Mother, Calleen Cordero, and Pam and Gela.
Mother was founded in 2010 by designer Tim Kaeding and Lela Becker. Famous for its super-soft fabrics and irreverent attitude, their boutique, made-in-L.A. brand is unique for its genius for keeping an indie spirit while still offering fits and washes that appeal to a wide range of women. Tim likes to say that Mother, a word as loaded with innuendo as it is unconditional love, goes against the grain; the brand pushes technological boundaries when it comes to that signature soft denim, and pushes brand boundaries when it comes to, for instance, naming silhouettes (think cheeky: The Dropout Boyfriend, The Groupie).
Calleen Cordero’s first step on her journey to becoming one of today’s most inspiring American designers began in Marin County, CA, where at the age of fifteen she was first immersed in the world of high fashion footwear. Beginning in sales at an upscale boutique, her innate talent for fashion and her passion for well-crafted shoes began to shine through, and Calleen soon found herself elevated to the position of assistant buyer, travelling to Europe to view collections and meet with designers, all by the age of sixteen. From this precocious beginning, Calleen went on to represent some of the top names in the footwear industry and learned about every aspect of the art and trade.
In 1999, she began designing her own line and started her company with two simple ideals: bring the Old World art of handmade artisan quality footwear, handbags and accessories back to the United States – and everything that she made would be as authentic as it was beautiful, as comfortable as it was luxurious, and as nourishing to the soul as it was to the eye.
Pam and Gela:
Pam and Gela were the maximalist masterminds behind the extraordinary Juicy Couture brand. They created an unapologetic world where more was fun. Their unique take on everyday luxury and irreverent fashion expression served as an inspiration to a whole new generation of young designers and paved the gilded way for progressive, up and coming ready-to-wear brands.

This year’s Oscars show was entertaining per usual; however, aside from the moving musical performances, the most standout part of the show for me was definitely the fashion! While watching arrivals on the red carpet, the overarching trends that I spotted on the stars included statement necklaces, embellishments, blue tuxes, and leg slits! Overall, I was happy with the majority of the looks on the carpet and can’t wait to share the ones I loved with you!

Now that fashion week is coming to a close in New York, the models can catch up on some beauty sleep, designers can celebrate, and editors can retire their sky-high heels for the more practical yet still trendy designer sneakers. As reviews and photos are pouring in from all of the shows, I couldn’t help but dive into the collections myself! Some things that really stood out to me were the beautiful color stories, the wearability of the designs, and the lovely use of texture from the designers. I must say that I’m very impressed from what I’ve seen so far and can’t wait to share some of my favorite looks with you! Check them out below and see if you agree!

From the meaningful tribute speeches and political nods to a surprising confession of love from Clooney himself, this year’s Golden Globe Awards seemed to be more impactful and emotional than ever before. However, the more somber mood of the show wasn’t at all reflected in the fashion choices that the celebrities brought to the red carpet. Bold colors, metallics, and skin-baring dresses seemed to be the biggest style themes of the night and I am so excited to show you my picks for best dressed!
Julianne Moore in Givenchy
Allison Williams in Armani Prive
Dakota Johnson in Chanel Couture
Kate Hudson in Versace
Diane Kruger in Emilia Wickstead

Yesterday morning, I looked out my bedroom window and was delightfully surprised to see a blanket of snow on the ground for the first time this winter! Now, I’m not usually the biggest fan of the winter season, but when it actually snows, I get just as excited as I did as a little kid around it. Snow is not only beautiful to look at, but it also brings to mind one of my favorite hobbies, snowboarding. I’ve been snowboarding for over ten years now, and I am seriously in love with the sport. Whenever it starts getting cold outside, I almost always find myself scouring the Internet for awesome new snow gear from my favorite cold-weather brand, Burton. Even though I’m not normally a brand snob, when it comes to my snowboard gear, I really only want Burton. So, inspired by the snow yesterday, I (per usual) started scanning the Burton website for new merchandise and couldn’t help but put together some awesome outfits. If you’re like me and always seem to “need” some new snow duds, take a peek at my favorite looks below along with some rad accessories and boards to add to your wish list!
